221g pink slip for F1 visa @ Chennai

Hi All,

   I got admitted into Univ of Delaware for Master's in Biotechnology. I applied for F1 visa at Chennai consulate and got a 221g pink slip. I am a bit worried hearing about processing time it takes for 221g's in general. Anyone recently went through this process in Chennai ?

 

My visa process went like this.

 

Me: good morning

VO: good morning

 

VO: You are going to Univ of Delaware for your Master in BioTechnology

Me: yes

 

VO: Why Univ of delaware ?

Me: Before I speak he asked my resume, handed it to VO

 

VO: who is sponsoring you ?

Me: My dad.

 

VO: what does he do ?

Me: Govt. employee

 

VO: Gives me a 221g pink slip and said we need to administrative processing on this. Please wait to hear from us and keeps the passport.

 

Any help or similar experiences with chennai consulate is really appreciated

Hi ,

 

As you area is in Bio technology, it is quite common to get 221g pink slip.  They are doing some Admin processing. There will be some delay but you should be OK.

This is quite common in life sciences fields. Don't worry, you'll get the visa stamped passport in 2-3 weeks.
