Name Change for Minor Kid Lives on H4 Visa

Hello Forum Members,

 

I am in deep anxious and trying to resolve the problem quickly to avoid my son to be bullied everyday in future.

 

He is 7 years old and his name contains word that provides weird english meaning and we got to change it immediately.

 

can anybody advise what the process is?

 

1) i got to publish in the india news papers and gazatte and with that change the name in his passport through indian consulate.

 

2) after that what should I do? should i get into USA county court and change it? how do i update his name in School,Tax, Insurance and all the records ?

 

your advise would be deeply appreciated. I will hire a lawyer if required but before that want to know correct process.

See an attorney to have it done properly.  It is state dependent.

Most things can be done with legal documents and passport from India. I still think consult is best option and will not cost much.I would be most concerned about taxes (ITIN) and insurance to make sure he is not mistaken for a second person.
