Withdrawing change of status application

Hi.. I have applied for Change of status from H1B to F1 on 18th Nov. Now, my company is asking me to defer my school joining to May/April because they want me to lead some crucial projects. It is all very amicable and they are not stopping me from leaving - just asking if that is possible. My school says it is OK to defer my admission.

My question is can I withdraw my change of status to F1. I can get a letter from my company stating that they asked me to stay back for 4-5 months to lead some crucial projects. I can show this letter and hopefully also get a letter from school saying that my admission is deferred.

Is there a possibility that my future application to change status may be affected ?
