H1B Approved but I94 shows H4

Hi All,

 

I was on H4 and I got my H1B approval notice in August 2013. Post the govt shutdown I applied for SSN and they rejected my application saying they could not verify my records. I took infopass appointment at local USCIS office and they pointed the problem to be my I94 which still shows H4 Visa. But they did not tell me the procedure to get the I94 record rectified. Now I don't know what is my next course of action. Has anyone faced this issue, or any idea on what to do next?
