Hi All,

I am graduate student (F-1 Visa) and about to graduate. Recently I did something very stupid. I tried to steal chips from a casino while playing there. The dealer caught me and I was asked not to enter the casino again. However, I did not pay any heed to the warning and entered the casino again to play in a couple of hours as I was very drunk. The casino security guard caught hold of me and in a flash I was surrounded by cops. The security person told me that I could go to jail for this. He jotted down my full name, date of birth, address, and the details of my school card and driver's license while one of the cops took my photo. I left the casino after that. I was not arrested or asked to appear in court.

I am applying for OPT and jobs. I am very worried if my details would appear on background checks conducted by companies. Do you think my name and details would be in any records or databases? Would getting OPT, jobs, or H-1 be a problem for me? Will there be any issues at the POE if I visit US again? Please advise me. I can't sleep after I did that stupid thing. This was my first mistake during my stay here.

Thank you!

Since you were not issued a summons, ticket, or any other document from the police and the information was taken down by the security guard you maybe 'lucky' (yes, ironic as this is in relation to a casino).  The information is definitely in the casino's database(s), which are arguably more extensive and sophisticated than those of the police, and shared with other casinos.

As @t75 posted, you should consult with a lawyer, and have them do a records search to see what maybe on file and check with the casino on your behalf.
