New I 94 is not having valid expiration date of I 797

    I got new I 94 when I  came back on Dec 8 2012. I remember showing new I-797 at POE. But later I didn't check the date on my new I 94. Admint Until date on new I 94 was given as Oct 13 2013. But I 797 is valid till Mar 2015

 

I am travelling back to India on Oct 31 for my visa stamping. I just noticed the issue. I went to CBP  in JFK to fix it. They told me that I need to staple the I 94 attached to I 797 to the existing one and they said that they can't correct it now.

 

 

    Is it OK  now that when I am departing I can give both I 94's to the airlines and later they will correct it ?

 

Please advise as I have little time even to apply for  extension of I 94 now.
