Joining new job abd travelling outside USA while H1B transfer is in process

1. My H1B visa is valid till Sept 2014 (from comp X), work location State A

2. Want to change job with new comp Y and move to state B

 

 

Questions

 

1. Can I join new job as soon as "transfer petition receipt" is received (not yet approved) ?

 

2. If yes, can I travel home country (outside US) while transfer is in process and come back to state B without issue ?

1. Yes, you can. But, it is wise to join company Y after approval. Just in case, if your H1B petition with company Y is denied what would be your status?

2. Nope. If you have joined company Y based on receipt notice you need company Y's I797 to enter US.
