Visa approved, it was not that tough.Having  proper documentation is good enough.

My Case :

Masters completed in 2007

Got my h1 in 2008

2008 dec i went for H1 stamping in Vancouver.

Then changed the employer in 2011

Took full time job in 2012 with xxx Company in Madison WI

 

Went for H1 stamping in Oct 28 2013 to Kingston Jamaica.

 

My Embassy/Visa experience.

 

My visa appointment time is at 7:30 .

Reached the embassy at 7:00.

They told me that pic (on ur application id - DS-160) should be WITHOUT glasses.

So they asked me pic without glasses, i don’t have one and no worries there are few people right across the road who charge  5-10$ and give pic in 5 mins.

 

Went in to embassy , security check (no cell phone or electronics)

lot of other local people would be there for visitor and other visas.

Then took my number at the reception counter.

Wait in the line for finger print.

Once the finger print is done then wait in the next line for visa interview.(don’t worry u ll be seated).

 

Interview:

 

vo  : please give your LCA and tax filings of last year (NOT w2's , the actual tax filing papers)

me : handed the docs

vo : went through my passport and saw intial H1 stamping from a diff company

       and asked me to show the transition from that compan to the currnt one.

     

      I showed all the approved I-797 from my first company to the current one.

 

vo: when is your return

me : my return flight is on Wednesday at 2:30

vo:   oh , i know people are coming here as dates are not available in Canada so tell your friends who are coming  to plan for 1 week  and he gave me a ticket with date and time on it to collect the passport at embassy.

 

usually they would give a slip to collect your passport at DHL . But for all h1 folks they asked the return schedule and gave the tickets to come and collect at the embassy.

 

Next day i went and collected the passport.(same security check , no cell phones, bags)

It took 15 mins and i got my passport.

 

If you have decent documents it is quite good experience in Jamaica.

I recently got my stamping done on oct 28 .

Though you are female , its quite safe as long as you stay in decent hotel and stick with taxis that are licensed with JUTA tours , my taxi guy was very good and used the same for my entire trip.
