Can i file H1 extension along with amendment???

hello all --

 

I got my H1 transfer approved from apr 30 2013 to Apr 29 2014 with client X. Now i am working at different client Y. I am planning to go for stamping by end of October. Since i moved from client X to client Y, i am applying for amendment of my H1. 

 

My question is can i file extension along with amendment or not.

 

My employer is telling me that we can not file extension along with amendment if the filing date is not in the 180 days gap( that is gap between filing date and H1 validity date).

 

Can someone tell me whether i can file extension along with amendment or not.

 

If someone went through same situation like this please post your suggestions.

yes your employer is right, you can file for extension with amendment only if your current validity period is less than 6 months.
