dkumar
Hi All, Right now i am on H1B and my employer started GC process, After reading many post i came to knw that we need the birth cirtificate while applying I485. Actually in my case my real Birthplace is "AAA" (my mom's place) but in passport it is "BBB" (name of my native place) . I realized this thing before only, but i used my birthplace as BBB since it was stated in my passport. (in all previous documentations - e.g. DS160 for H1bs and all) Now my question is what am i suppose to do? Do i need to go india and get the new BC with new birthplace "BBB"?? or should i change the BC in Passport? Any help would be appreciated Link to comment
Attorney_15
If one's birthplace is not correctly reflected on one's passport or elsewhere, then one should generally have it corrected. One should not be concealing an actual birth place to continue an error for the purpose of consistency. One may need to explain the error to USCIS in a filing where this information is provided.
