Hi,

I recently got my new H1B visa stamped. But i have below issues,

- My approved I797 validity is for only four months !! (Expires on 30th Jan 2014)

- But my visa stamp has validity of one year.(Valid till 30th Sept)

- What is the validity of my visa now ?

- When i should apply for extension ?

- Do i need to apply for any correction to my visa stamp?

Thanks and Regards

Validity of visa is till 30th Sept

Before your I797 validity or I94 expires.

Not required.

So I must be travelling to US before my I797 expires  and apply for an extension ?
Or can i apply for extension somewhere in June or July 2014 ?

Sorry I thought you are already in US. Your visa is valid till 30th Sept.

Yes, you need to travel before your I797 expires.

Visa is just an entry document and it has nothing to do with valid stay in US. Since you are outside US once you enter you would get an I94 with a validity date. Based on that and your I797 you need to apply for extension

Hi Himanshu,

You mean correction to visa stamp ? It shouldn't be more than I797 validity date ?

Please advice, Do i need to get my visa stamp corrected before travelling to US ?

This is my first time to US.

Thanks
