Is it OK for a H4 VISA holder to open/have a US bank account to receive refunds from a university?

Hi,

 

Is it OK for a H4 VISA holder to open/have a US bank account to receive refunds from a university?

 

Details:

 

The H4 VISA holder is pursuing her masters and to be able to get a refund from the university she is supposed to activate a "Cougar Refund Card" which is a Debit MasterCard account.

 

The Cougar Refund Card (Debit MasterCard) is issued by WEX Bank and I am guessing it will be considered as a bank account.

 

Is it OK for a her to go ahead and activate the account? Will there be any issues/side effects as far as her VISA status is concerned?

 

 

Any advise is really appreciated.
