Urgent help!! Lost passport with valid un-expired F1 VISA on OPT

Hi, 

 

I need to go to india in october for an emergency. I have a valid F1 VISA until 2015. I am currently working as a fulltime employee in an e-verified company on OPT. My OPT is valid until May 2014 (for 7 more months). I will be applying for extension eventually. I lost my passport recently with a valid un-expired F1 visa. I got a new passport from SFO embassy with out any hassle. But, I am very afraid about my restamping when i visit india in october.

 

1. Is it even safe to go to India for restamping?

2. Is it safer to go after  applying for OPT extension.

 

Please share your suggestions and experiences. Thanks in advance.

Since F1 visa is for student program and now that you have finished your program, so getting F1 VISA after graduation is very less.
