2013lucky
I was arrested for shoplift in 2011 and after plea agreement charge was reduced to trespassing (no jail term and case is currently dismissed). Now i am travelling to India and would need Visa stamped before i return back to USA.For Visa stamping i have some questions. If VO asks why was i arrested and what did i do? Do i need to explain the whole shoplift story? My fear is if i explain about shoplift then my chances of getting Visa is less. Now since i am convicted for Trespass and not shoplift. I know i don't have to lie and remain honest but just wandering how do i explain this. Thanks Lucky Link to comment
spaceimpact
don't lie ever on your immigration matters. Be truthful and answer in brief about your case if asked during interview. I have read of many posts where people have successfully got their visas stamped in India with petty theft case dismissals. Link to comment

planetgourmet
always carry your lawyer's business card with you. you do not need to say too much. just be brief. they attorney will elaborate on your behalf if they are called. that is the best advice / be brief and have your lawyer's business card with you. you are innocent until proven guilty Link to comment
