H1b Approved! Stamping Experience / Procedure, Ottawa

Hi all,

 

I got my H1b Approved from Ottawa this week,Just wanted to share my experience.

 

Background :

I have done my Masters from USA, Currently I am a fulltime employee but before this I  Worked as a Consultant in EVC model . My  h1 was transferred around 6 months back.

This was my first h1b stamping.

 

 

Canada visa procedure:

download forms from below site
 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp
 
only some forms needed for visitor visa. imm5257  & imm5645  fill these two carefully.
 
goto this website
 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/apply_online.asp
 
complete step 1 and it will determine whether you're eligible to apply online or not based on your qualifications i think.
then register step 2 you will get personal check list code (important take a note of that number)
 
come to this site
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/mycic.asp
 
get a gc key login id and password.
submit your documents.

 

i129,4 months paystubs,itinery,4 month bank statements etc  each kind of document should be in one pdf file

for ex: all paystubs should be in 1 pdf

 

Once you have the Canada visa , you can fill out DS 160 and take appointment.

 

Documents Carried for H1b Stamping

1.  Form DS 160.

2.       Approved I797A

3.        Copy of Appointment with US Embassy at Ottawa

4.        Passport I94

5.        LCA

6.        I-129

7.        Current Employment Letter (offer letter).

8.        HR Verification Letter from Current Employer. 

9.        Pay stubs

10.    W2 forms 2013,2012 & 2011 + Tax Returns

11.    Experience Letters from past employers 

12.    All I797 Copy which was approved previously

13.    2 Passport Size Photo 

14.   SSN Copy /DL Copy

15.    Resume

16.    I20- EAD.

17.    Master Degree/ Transcripts

18.    BTech degree

19.    Bank Statements (last 1.5 Year)

 

Visa Day Embassy Experience:

Embassy allows people to go inside max 30 min ahead of interview.

I went around 25 min before scheduled time.

 

The officer outside the  asked me  about appointment time and saw appointment letter.

Then after the security check , a lady checked the DS160 , I 797 and passport  and instructed to go to window where my DS160 , I797 and  passport was take and I was given a token no, 

after about 10 min I was called for finger printing.After the finger printing I waited for about 15 min.

 

 

Then my no. was called :

 

VO. : Good Morning

Me: Good Morning Sir

VO. : So What company do you work for ?

Me: YYYYYY  company,

VO: What do you do for them?

Me: Explained

VO: Who used your company's softwares?

Me: Explained

VO : How long have you been working for them:

Me: X months

VO: Which company you worked before and how long you have worked on this technology?

Me: Explained about my past experience and also mentioned that I had done a masters from US

VO: Good Summary, Your visa is approved

Me: :)

I din't hear any words whatsoever he said after this. He gave me a paper to check the status.

I said thank you and exit :)

 

I was not asked even a single document. I picked up my passport two days after the interview.

 

 

Ottawa:

Ottawa is a good place visit, It was very live and the area around embassy is nice.

 

First two days I stayed at Capital hill Hotel, Location wise it was good,  But not so great otherwise.

Last day I stayed at jail Hostel, For single person It was a good experience and also its location was good too.(not for families )

Hey  

 

I had a question. On the  Proof of Income (while filling out the TRV online), i says 

 

Proof of income
 

Provide proof of income, such as: 

• signed original letter on company letterhead from your employer which includes: your name, position, current salary and date of hire; and/or
• document issued from your employer showing your regular salary, such as a pay stub; and
• income tax returns for the last 2 years (if applicable); and/or
• proof of other sources of income (pension statement, investments, etc.)

So does that mean we have to submit both paystub and tax?
