Passport pick up in chennai after approval

Hi, I applied for H1B and H4 for my wife at chennai and our visa's got approved on 27th and 28th was holiday. As of today 29th, our passport pick up status still says "Your passport is still with post". 

 

Any idea what is the average time for passport pick up in chennai ?

 

Is that mandatory that we need to go for pick up only after status is updated ?

If your visa is approved then same day evening the status will update to "passport ready for pick up". Yes, you can go only if status update mentions "ready for pick up"
