7th year H1 ext with expired passport

Hi Everyone,

 

My I797 expires on Sep 16 2013 and I'm filing for my extension with an approved I140.  But I realized lately that my passport expired in July 2013.  I'm applying for my new passport immediately but would that impact the extension.  Can you please let me know if I continue filing my extension cause I'm running out of time with the extension filing.  Would there be just a query or any other bigger issue with expired passport, anyone please let me know.
