H1b transfer pending can I file extension

Hi,

 

My H1b transfer is filed and is pending for a long time due to an RFE. One who filed for my transfer hasn't taken any step yet.Meanwhile my H1b with my current employer is going to expire.Please let me know if I can file my extension without thinking about the pending transfer?Do let me know if my extension will be approved even if the employer who filed my transfer do not continue with the transfer process.
