jobas2007 Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 My H1B extension is recently approved and am planning to have my H1B stamping done from India, based on extension. But when I tried to schedule appointment from http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/in website, my choice of embassy (where I can appear for VISA interview) is being limited by the choice of state from a list of Indian states. As I am a continuous resident of USA for past several years, I am now confused which state option to choose (should I choose my state where my parents reside OR I can choose any state that finally results in most convenient embassy)? NOTE: previously, at least H1B holders were free to appear at any USA embassy in India. Also, is biometric screening mandatory for all VISA applicants OR only for people who are appearing for any US visa interview for the very first time? Any help in this regards in appreciated
jairichi Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 You can apply at a US consulate in India based on permanent address mentioned in your passport. I believe biometric screening is mandatory.
