US CONSULATE, HYDERABAD

 

Day 1: 08/13/2013 2:00PM

  • Arrived at the OFC appointment center at around 1:00PM
  • Security check and documents scan and stamped the DS-160 confirmation page, which we have to bring the same form the next day to the interview.
  • They put a barcode on the passport.
  • Gave a serial number for finger printing.
  • Photo has been taken
  • Finger prints have been taken (4+4 first and then 2 thumbs)
  • Make sure you return with all the documents.

 

Day 2: 08/14/2013 10:00AM

  • Arrived at the security gate at 9:20AM
  • Checked for the passports, appointment confirmation letter, and DS-160 confirmation letter.
  • Asked if we have any cellphones etc. Even if we have they asked for some Rs.10 to store them in a locker kind of facility. But we didn’t have any by that time.
  • Waited in the room for the 10’o clock appointment slots. Gave us a Token no. for the interview. Hold it until you finish the interview. They called in for the security check.
  • Put the documents in the tray for scan and went through the body scanner and collect the documents file from the tray.
  • Went inside the room and took finger prints again (this time just 4 fingers only)
  • Waited in the room for the token number to appear on the screen (displays only 3 token numbers and their counter numbers)
  • Went to counter 11 and stood there for few seconds.
  • Visa Officer (lady) called in for the interview.
  • VO started asking questions to MIL.
  1. Asked for passports
  2. Where do your daughter and SIL live?
  3. Where does your SIL work?
  4. Do you know how much salary he is getting?
  5. Who is paying for the trip? SIL sponsor.
  6. How long is your trip? 2 months
  7. How many kids you have? Two, one in US and other one with us in India.

Then VO stressed, so you mean on here and one there? Yes.

  1. The daughter in US is your own daughter? Yes and smiles exchanged.
  2. Now looked at FIL, and smiled and asked, what do you do sir?

He said working in XXX. VO said, so you are a government servant. Replied Yes.

  1. Are you still in Service? Yes.
  2. Then VO said, you got your visa and we will keep the passports.
  3. Thank you.
  4. Walked out of the counter and asked the security people there that, where we have to pay the courier fee? They said, there is a counter outside where you can fill your address and pay Rs.300 each for the passports to be couriered to the home
