vishalk Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Hello All I will be going to India next week to get my H1 B visa stamped. This is my first travel outside the US after change of status from F1 to H1 B. My previous employer filed for the H1 visa and my current employer is holding my H1 after a successful transfer. My question is for the visa interview, should I submit any documents pertaining to my old employer? And does the process differ because I got my visa transferred before getting it stamped? Thanks
omshiv Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 The process is the same, you just need to submit your current employer's information, although in the DS-160 form you'll have to mention about your ol emp.
nightshade Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Your previous employer will have no bearing on the interview, only your current one. While the H1B Visa you will procure (upon successful completion of the interview) will contain your current employer's name, you can use it until it expires to re-enter the US, even if you were to transfer your H1B to another employer in the future. All you would need to show at the Port of Entry is the H1B Visa and your most current I-797 Approval Notice.
