Once you get this confirmation number go to ustraveldocs dot com website, create a login, enter details and take a print of the visa fee payment page to bank along with confirmation page print out and pay fees.

After you create the login and once you go through the process of scheduling appointment, in step 5 where you have to enter passport details there is space for DS160 confirmation number. You need to fill that otherwise you can not go forward to generate the number for making visa fee payment at bank.
