H1b transfer from profit to non profit

Hello there,

I am working for profit organisation with current visa status as H1B and received an offer from non-profit organisation. My question is on how the visa transfer will happen from my current job(which is profit organisation) to the new job(non-profit organisation).
If I would change my job, would my H1B transfer falls under H1B - cap extempt?

I am really confused..please help...

Your new employer has to file a new H1B petition for you. Once you get approval you can start working for new employer. Since you are already counted against cap it doesn't matter whether the job is cap exempt

If you have been counted for the quota, you are not counted again until your 6 years are over.

You can transfer without problems between for-profit and non-profit organizations.
