Duration between visits on Visitor Visa

Hi,

 

My mother in law is planning to visit my family for 2-3 months starting september 2013 till November 2013. She is again planning to come back in Feb2014 for 6 more months. Is it ok if the duration between her two vistis is about 4 months?

 

Is there any specific rule that says the minimum duration between visits on US Visitor visa is 6 months or a specific time frame?

There is no rule like that. But, entry to US depends on the immigration officer at the time of entry

In addition to jairichi..the VO at POE might ask the reason for quite frequent visits..and if turns out to be babysitting then she'll be sent back on the next flight.

Their is no rule like that, but in general any visitor will not spend more time in a foreign country. So frequent visits on visiting visa is a red flag. But in your case I think she is fine.

If there is a reason for a quick return, she should cancel her early visit.
