F2 during the 60 day grace period and then H1b?

I have the following questions

 

If I apply for F2 and since it takes a couple of months to process it, while its being processed if an employer files for a H1B what happens to the F2 process. Ultimately I need sometime for my H1B process due to which I plan to apply for F2.

Look at Last Action Rule

My wife is in a similar situation. I have been doing some reading today regarding the "last action rule", and it appears that if the effective date (not the approval date) on your H-1B approval notice is before the F-2 approval date, the last action will be the F-2 approval and you will be in F-2 status. In the case of F-2, there is no expedited processing and it's approval could take 2-3 months depending on several variables. If you want to end up with H-1B you would rather arrange your affairs in such a way that the H-1B effective date (again, not the approval date) is after the approval date of your F-2.

 

Again, this is my personal take on this issue...
