My OPT ended this June and I have 60 days grace period to stay in the US till August end. I am looking for job to be hired on H1 exempt visa, since I did not get luck into this year's H1b quota. I might find job this month and get filed for H1 exempt. However, in case I do not get filed by the end of August, what is your suggestion regarding changing my status to H4 (dependent on my husband who is on H1) How much time wise, I should be careful in applying for H4 so that I can stay in the US with legal status?
