H1B approved and starts on Oct 1st, 2013 - can I change job now?

I am on CAP GAP now and got my H1B approved for one year starting Oct1st, 2013. I work for a client in WA through my Employer. Now, I want to move closer to my family and find a new job in AZ keeping the same employer. However, my employer does not want me to switch job now. Can you please help me on the process to switch job now without waiting for Oct 1st, H1B to start.
