I will suggest you to get accommodation with below contacts, Her name is Mai, a china lady and house owner providing accommodation for short stay. Very decent and low prices compare to outside hotels.

She will charge $25 (single person) for a small room and 40 and 45 per queen bed (2 adults)

Near to down town and consulate (5km) ,u can get a Cab or Bus to downtown.

I stayed there and recommending this place to whomever have visa appointments in Vancouver.
