Travel while OPT is pending

Hi,

 

I travelled to India for family emergency while my application for OPT has been pending. It has been 2 months now after graduation (5 months in total) and my OPT status is still in initial review. I've a job offer form an employer so thought of returning back once my OPT got approved. But looks like its gonna take more time.

 

Is it safe to return back while OPT is pending? Do we face any issues at POE? I've a valid Visa, Passport, I20 with OPT requested dates and travel signature from DSO and a job offer letter from Employer 

 

Has anybody travelled during pending OPT? Pls share your experience.

 

I would really appreciate if some one could give advice on my situation.

I guess you need to have OPT card at POE since you have completed your course work.
