H4 to F1 for Online Education

Hi friends,

I am on H4 in US and would like to change to F1, my questions are;

1.Can I apply for F1 by registering for a Online /Certificate / Bachelors /Masters program (I already possess a Bachelors degree from an  Indian university).

2. Can I go back to my original status of H4 after the completion of program, incase I do not get an offer from an employer to change to H1.?

I need your valuable advise .

You can not get an F1 for online classes.

An F1 requires physical attendance of classes.

You can study in H4 status. The advantage of changing to F1 status is the OPT that you get at the end of the program. But, you must be a full-time on-campus student in order to maintain F1 status. Only 1 online course/3credits are allowed per semester to count towards maintaining full-time status.

you might get eligible with online course but i believe there would be certain amount of physical classes
