Travel while AP pending

Hello Gurus,

If my AP expires in the next 120 days and I just applied for a new AP and I have an emergency and need to travel immediately,  Can I travel with my "old" (unexpired) AP?

Is this permitted?

You can travel with an unexpired AP. That's kind of the whole point :-)

Yes you can travel on your old AP.

I read varying opinions, somebody wrote that you cannot travel at all, somebody else wrote and unless you have the receipt notice of the newly applied one you cannot travel and so on. The internet is full of good information and misinformation.
