H1 stamping with Family(h4)

I will be going for H1 stamping in mid June in Chennai consulate with spouse and child (6.5 years). I was able to book the appointment for all three together. My confusion is whether they allow my child for visa interview or the child has to use the drop box.

We all had L visa stamping earlier and this will be first H visa stamping. My personal preference is visa interview rather than drop box for the child. I read the in their website that children are not required to attend the interview but it does not say children are not allowed for the interview. Again for using drop box one of the parent should have the visa stamping, in my case neither parents have the visa stamping.

Please advise.
