Information21 Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Hey, I have applied H1 for FY 2014, Am planning to go for stamping in November but am worried because it would be only a month from my H1 start date. 1) Should I wait for some more time? Does it really matter? 2) Is it less risky if I go after 6 months of H1 start date than to go immediately after october? Any help would be really appreciated. Tahnks
sthamago Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 1. Doesn't Matter when you go but need to go with all the supporting docs 2. Nothing like that

QuestionV Posted June 3, 2013 Report Posted June 3, 2013 Hello information21, I am planning to do the same. Are you planning to go to your home country (where are you from?). I am an Indian national and I am thinking if I can get H1B stamping in Canada (perhaps even in India) in November. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. steward1 Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Hi shrutidoshi, I am in same situation. Did you got your h1b stamping until new I797's validity date? how early you applied for your stamping before your current h1b petition expiration date? Thanks.
Shrutidoshi Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Hi Steward1, Yes, my H1b visa was stamped till my new I797/s validity date and I did apply before 60 days of my current h1b petition expiration date for stamping. And i believe one can apply(go for stamping) 60-90 days before - near to former is preferred. Thanks, Shruti
vimalvk11 Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Hi All, I am in the same situation...My current H1b I797 is valid till 09/30/2014. I have new h1 extension approved from 10/01/2014 to 09/30/2017. I haven't gone out of the country since 2011 and my h1 visa expired in 2011. Can i go for stamping with new h1 extension....so i get the visa approved till 09/30/2017? I heard many posts saying that once can go for stamping only 90 days in advance of H1B start date? I believe its not true for an h1b extension... Please let me know. Thanks Vimal

DS160 form which i filled has new H1 extension petition number which is valid from 10/2014 to 2017. I have been seeing posts which says..DS160 form should be filled with current petition number? Will this cause an delay in appointment? Should i just fill a new DS160 form with current H1B petition number? Please advise. Thanks Kumar
