godfather007 Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Hi, I'm a US citizen and want to apply for greencard for my parents. My parents have a different last name than me. They have been to US several times and showed me as their destination and listed as son in the visa application. I-130 asks for submission of my Birth Certificate. The Indian Birth Certificate (at leas in my town) does not list seperate Last Name for the child and the father. Since my father chose to use our cast name as my last name, the birth certificate shows something like this: Child's Name: My Name Father's Name: Father's Name + cast name Mother's Name : Mother's Name Now the issue: my parents have always used our sub-cast name and that is what is on their passport and US visa (which is now expired). For example in my dad's passport it is something like: Name: Fahter's name + Grand father's name + sub-cast name What do I need to do so that cast name on my birth certificate v/s sub-cast name on my parent's passport/visa doesn't become an issue when I apply for GC for them. I'm concerned .
t75 Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Enlist the assistance of an attorney to insure that you have submitted any affidavits required to establish multiple names as the same individual.
