F-1 OPT payroll issue

Hello all, my opt started on march 10th and I have a contract job in a consultancy but I didn't not get into any project yet so there's no payroll running on my name. The problem is I have already submitted my offer letter to the college and employment start date on that is march 18th. Since there is no payroll running on my name even though the employment started, would this be a problem?? Does the number of unemployed days accrued depend on the payroll?? Plz help. Thanks in advance.

If you are initial OPT you need not worry about your payroll, you can request your employer for unpaid work training certificate.
