myimmhelp Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 Hi Support - India I have filled for my mother immigrant Visa (I-130), I am getting ready to file the DS 230. I have a query regarding the birth certificate / Marriage certificate. My Mother was born back in 40’s and she does not have a birth certificate from the place of birth. I contacted the concern local authority and they say at that time it was not necessary to record birth and there is no evidence of birth recorded or they can give a certificate or non availability as it was never documented. Visa: Immigrant Visa US consulate: India Does the NVC accept Notarized copy of birth in lieu of the actual birth certificate? My mother’s passport has her date of birth and fathers name, mothers name and place of birth. Same goes with the marriage certificate as this was never registered. Now that I have lost, my dad in 2010 it makes it more difficult. Will my father’s death certificate help, if it is attached to the self declaration certificate prepared by mother to support her marriage.
