nimi80 Posted April 14, 2013 Report Posted April 14, 2013 Hello Folks, I was born in Benghazi, Libya and 10 days post my birth, my parents got the Certificate of Entry of Birth (Birth Certificate: Form H) from Embassy of India in Tripoli, Libya which is the long form of Birth Certificate including my parents full names, place of birth, date etc. For Green Card purposes; will this certificate work? Please let me know. Thanks.
Attorney_11 Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 It is advisable to consult the US Department of State Reciprocity Table to determine whether birth certificate documents in the country of birth are available, under what circumstances, and how to go about procuring them.
nimi80 Posted April 16, 2013 Author Report Posted April 16, 2013 Excellent reply Mr. Attorney ! I wouldn't even have known about it. This is what I found on the state department website for Libya Reciprocity Schedule: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9671 " Birth Certificates Available. To obtain a Libyan birth certificate, non-national applicants must send all pertinent information (including name, date and place of birth, and full names of parents) to their respective Embassy in Tripoli. That Embassy will then make a formal request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to obtain the certificate from the appropriate municipality. Libyan applicants, or a friend or relative of the applicant, must appear in person at the appropriate municipality office." I already have the certificate of birth from Embassy of India in Tripoli. Looks like I need to send them a request to make a formal request for the birth certificate from appropriate municipality. Please confirm if I understood it right and THANKS a lot for the help.
