How long is H1B approval valid

I have H1B approved in 2007 and valid from Oct of 2007.

However I am in usa for past 3 years on L1.

Can I still use my H1 B approved now??

The H1B APPROVAL NOTICE(I-797) will have the specific timeframe with the APPROVED start and end date on it, you are talking about 2007 OCT which is more than 5 1/2 years. You need to verify the copy for dates approved and should apply for an extension if you will be with the same employer or else a transfer application(new H1B, CAP exmpt) need to be filed.

If you currently are in L-1 status, you cannot use the H-1B approval notice unless and until your status is changed by USCIS to H-1B status or you travel out of the US and re-enter with an H-1B I-94, which generally involves obtaining an H-1B visa first.
