I797B approval notice (without I94) instead of I-797A

Hi,

I recently got my H1B approval from H4 to H1B.

I received I797B approval notice (without I94) instead of I-797A. I never traveled out side US during this time period.

I was told my employer that they are filing I-129 H1B amendment form to get I-797A with COS.

Do we need to file separate Change-Of-Status form I-539 for me to move from H4 to H1B status?

Could someone please suggest me what the right approach to get I-797A is?

Did you received your H1 approval? I am in same boat my H1 is approved with out i94.
