Port Of Entry Questions if we stay 3+ months out side USA

Hi,

i am on H1B, my H1 started from Oct 2012. i came to india (on Feb 2nd 2013)to get my H1b stamping .i got my visa stamped on feb 8th 2013. Due to ill health i could not return as per the schedule. i am planning to book my return ticket in May. Do i get any trouble at POE because of my 3+ months stay in India? if yes how can i avoid those things?Any suggestions of POE to avoid such kind of trouble?

while coming back...show your employment letter if you are a FTE..if you are a consultant..you'll need to show the Client letter where you'l be working...also carry all your H1B documents..and pray hard.

Carry proof that you are still employed, i.e, your company has a job waiting for you even after your three month leave.

There is a chance that you might be questioned on the length of your leave, seems like you have a reasonable answer, if your company is ok with it, officer at POE has no valid reason to stop you.

Thank you Omshiv and Rangadu for the reply. Yes i am full time Employee, i have the employment letter and all the other details with me. and my company is ok with my stay.
