tonto49 Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 I was on F1 visa till 1 year ago, later I changed status to H1b for 1 year (I had 1 year left on my H1). I still have one semester left to finish my studie. So just before expiry of my H1b I applied for change of status from H1 to F1. While the change of status was pending I had a family emergency due to which I was forced to leave for India. My wife and kids are still in the US. Now I am ready to return to US. I have my old F1 visa stamped on my passport for travel purpose (stamped before I was on H1 and valid till 2014). My question is will I be allowed to re-enter the US based on previous visa stamp and new I-20? The sevis ID on the visa stamp and I-20 is different. This is very tricky issue so please reply if you have any knowledge about this.
