CPT for H4 to F1

I joined my school in Spring 2012. I was fully enrolled and completed spring and fall 2012 and currently enrolled and studying in Spring 2013. I applied for a change of status from H4 to F1 in Spring 2013 and got it approved. My visa says I am in F1 status from May 1 onwards. But in our school summer starts from may 30 onwards. Now I have an offer for an internship from may 14th onwards. Am I eligible for CPT with this start date (May 14) or since Summer is my first semester as F1 student, do I need to wait till May 30 to get my CPT?

CPT rules vary from school to school. Ask your DSO for more details

And also make sure that your are 'NOT VIOLATING THE CPT' rules.

For a summer internship pre-completion OPT is the usual thing to use.

CPT is only for work as part of the curriculum, not for a summer internship.

That's right, but can't we use summer internship under CPT as the part of curriculum, exp : graduate project??

As I said, if it is part of the curriculum, then yes. But such situations are rare. And the OP didn't indicate anything like that.

I got you. I thought my understanding about CPT was wrong.
