Immigvictim Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 hi, My employer is all set to file my H1 this April. My OPT expires May 7 2013. I have already applied for STEM extension and the application reached on February 4th but i did not get a receipt from USCIS. My employer requested a STEM extn receipt without which he says cannot file for H1. Is it true that H1 cannot be filed without the receipt? I m sure i will get my stem extension by May 4th. Please advise. Thanks
IM129 Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 1) You can call USCIS by yourself to figure out your application status(STEM OPT) as you did not receive the RECIEPT number yet 2) If your employer applies H1B before your OPT Expiry date, I do not see why he need a OPT STEM Extension Receipt or any document related to it
