However when I got my h1b approval, i saw that my h1 b start date is from Apr 1 2013. So does this mean that from Oct 17 2012 till April 1st, I am not authorized to work? Company A H1 -- Validity - Oct 1 2010 - Mar 31 2013 Company B H1 -- Validity - Apr 1 2013 - Oct 31 2015 Please advise. Link to comment

In case of my change of employer petition, start date of Feb 1 was requested, Petition got approved on Feb3 and it still had start date of Feb1. I am not sure whether a petition requesting a start date of Feb1, if gets adjudicated on say June 1 gets start date of Feb1 (I understand you would start working as soon as you receive receipt notice) with this background, getting a start date of April 1, if start date requested was an earlier date mught be a mistake on part of USCIS. Your employer's attorney should take it up ASAP. Link to comment
