I have no clear answer. Please help !!!

My situation:

I am on H-1 and my Wife on H-4, both of us are in US as of now. H-1 and H-4 expires July 2013, so have filed an extension (Normal processing) for both in Feb 2013. Recieved reciept number for both.

An employer is filing for my wife's H-1 on April 1st 2013.

Question:

If her H-1 gets approved first, say May 2013 and then H-4 extension comes, say June 2013, what will happen to her H-1 application status ? And what staus she will be in come Oct 1st 2013 ? WIll she have to travel out of country and get VISA stamped to start working Oct 1st 2013 ?

Please advise
