Converting from H1B to B2 visa

Hello I am converting from H1B to B2 visa because my contract is coming to an end.

I applied through ELIS online system.

Now in case if I get a job before decision comes in 2 months time, Can I apply for a new H1B from a new employer before even the B2 application goes through and cancel the B2 visa process?

This is going to be a purely timing issue. Ure only hope is that the H1 application is adjudicated after the B2 and that too with the B2 approved since last action rule prevails. Yes probably you can apply for the H1 and then withdraw the B2 but I have no idea if there is a negative impact on ure H1 app.

Let us know what you plan to do as this is a fairly unanswered question.
