H1B - 7th year extension - GC filed in 7th year

Hi,

My H1b was expired on Apr 7th 2012 and I am currently staying in Canada for the past 11 months (starting April 1st 2012 to be precise).

My company filed my PERM on Feb 5th 2013.

I just wanted to know if I can use the expired H1 to apply for a 7th year extension to get back to US once my PERM and I140 is approved (say by Aug 2013)?

and if Yes, is there anything that I should be taking care since I would be applying the extension from Canada?
