Working for Non - E-Verify on STEM Extension

Hi All,

Recently I came to know that the company I am working on STEM extension is not a E-verified company. Initially when I joined the company while on STEM extension they were not aware of the E-Verify and gave the EIN # which I thought is E-Verify number and joined the company thinking that they are E-Verified. They are willing to sponsor H-1 and when documenting for H-1 petition they told me that EIN# is Employer Identification but not E-Verify #. Now I am not sure how to proceed. Can some one please help.

See some good immigration attorney ASAP. I guess you are in trouble.

You have to stop working there immediately.

On OPT STEM extension you are not allowed to work for a non-e-verified company.

And you should discuss your situation with a good immigration lawyer.

If the company participates in the E-Verify in couple of days can I stay with them ?

or can I stop working with them for now and later when they apply for my H-1 petition can I go back.
