saraf Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Hi All, Recently I came to know that the company I am working on STEM extension is not a E-verified company. Initially when I joined the company while on STEM extension they were not aware of the E-Verify and gave the EIN # which I thought is E-Verify number and joined the company thinking that they are E-Verified. They are willing to sponsor H-1 and when documenting for H-1 petition they told me that EIN# is Employer Identification but not E-Verify #. Now I am not sure how to proceed. Can some one please help. Thanks, P
rahul412 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Can some one please help. See some good immigration attorney ASAP. I guess you are in trouble.
JoeF Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 You have to stop working there immediately. On OPT STEM extension you are not allowed to work for a non-e-verified company. And you should discuss your situation with a good immigration lawyer.
saraf Posted February 28, 2013 Author Report Posted February 28, 2013 Thank you for the replies. I will definitely see immigration attorney. If the company participates in the E-Verify in couple of days can I stay with them ? or can I stop working with them for now and later when they apply for my H-1 petition can I go back. Thanks, P
