When will my EAD get immediately converted to H4?

Hello Sir/Madam,

I am currently in L2 and working on an EAD. My L2 Visa is valid till April 2014 & I94 is valid till April 2015. Now my husbands company is transferring his L1 to H1b this year. They recently requested me to submit G-28 & I-539 for converting my L2 to H4. So does this mean that my Visa status will change immediately to H4 or will it change only after the H1 petition is been approved for my husband? More ever will this affect my EAD status? What is the best advice that you would give for my situation. Please help, your support & guidance in this regard is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Since an H4 is dependent on an H1, the H4 would only start when the H1 starts.

Thank you so much for your guidance JoeF. So correct me if my understanding is not right, you mean to say that until my husband gets his H1b stamping, till that point I will be on L2 right.

Wrong.You will be on H4 from the moment your H4 petition is approved, which generally happens at the same time when your Husband's H1 petition is approved but nothing to do with the stamping and once your H4 is approved you cannot use your EAD to work.
