Aks_Aks
Hi, Am in need of a urgent and quality advise for my friend who is going through tough times. He got married in Jan'09. At that time his wife was on Green Card and he was on H1B visa. Once his wife became a US citizen in Jun'11, she filed for my friend's green card and he received the unconditional green card valid for 10 years pretty soon. At present, things are not going right between them. His wife and her family is threatening him of revoking the green card. His intention was not to get the green card at the time of marriage but to live with her happily and at the time of marriage, she was not even US citizen. My questions are: 1.Will there be any impact on my friend's green card status if either he or his wife file for divorce? 2.What will be the consequences on his citizenship? Appreciate your help. Thanks, Aks Link to comment
JoeF
There is nothing his wife or her family can do to the GC. Link to comment
t75
He should be sure to keep copies of all documents proving that the marriage was in "good faith". His divorce attorney should be able to properly advise him. Link to comment
